Adani Ports Leads Gains While Reliance Slides on Mumbai Trading Day

Friday's market action in Mumbai was dominated by a sharp advance in Adani Group stocks, led by Adani Ports & SEZ, which posted a 3.10 percent increase to close at INR 1,761. The stock reached an intraday high of INR 1,770, translating to a 3.62 percent rise from its previous close.

Adani Enterprises also posted solid performance, up 1.48 percent to INR 2,634.40 after attaining a high of INR 2,653, a 2.19 percent premium over the last closing price.

Complementary gains were seen in Ambuja Cement, which climbed 3.08 percent to INR 351.50, and Adani Green Energy, up 1.63 percent at INR 1,255.80.

In stark contrast, Reliance Industries fell 0.65 percent to INR 1,170.30, while BSE Limited slipped 1.43 percent to INR 3,287.20.

The Nifty 50’s top performers featured Apollo Hospitals, ITC, Ayush Motors, Tata Consultancy Services and HCL Tech, each posting increases of up to 4.72 percent. The rally was underpinned by robust buying in technology stocks, as the Nifty IT index surged 3 percent, making it the leading sector index for the day.

Market breadth was healthy: the Nifty Midcap 100 rose 1.56 percent to 58,787.30 and the Nifty Small‑Cap 100 added 0.54 percent to end at 19,153.70. All major sectoral indices finished in the green except Nifty Oil & Gas, which remained in the red.
