Adani Green’s 20 GW Solar‑Wind Portfolio Powers Mumbai and Delhi

Adani Green Energy Ltd has announced that its operational renewable capacity now exceeds 20 GW, a first for any Indian renewable enterprise established via greenfield development.

The firm’s clean‑energy output tops 52 billion units per annum, accounting for about three percent of India’s total electricity usage.

According to Executive Director Sagar Adani, this 20 GW figure matches the combined annual electricity requirement of the two megacities, Mumbai and New Delhi, illustrating the impact of disciplined execution and a forward‑looking approach.

The milestone was reached within ten years of launching its maiden renewable project – the 2.5 GW Kamuthi solar complex in Tamil Nadu in 2016 – cementing its status as the country’s largest and fastest‑expanding greenfield renewable capacity builder.

In FY26 the company recorded an addition of 5,051 MW, the biggest yearly increase by any non‑Chinese firm.

Its current asset base comprises roughly 14.2 GW of solar, 2.7 GW of wind, and 3.3 GW of wind‑solar hybrid capacity.

A 3.55 GW battery energy storage system was also commissioned, marking the world’s largest BESS deployment outside China and one of the swiftest project completions worldwide.

Adani Green plans to roll out another 10 GW of battery storage in FY27 and to enlarge its overall renewable capacity to 50 GW over the next five years, aligning with the 2030 national renewable‑energy ambition.
