The first consignment of Corona vaccine has arrived in Bastar district on Friday. The vaccine received as the first consignment has been kept in the storage center at Maharani Hospital. Dr. RK Chaturvedi, Chief Medical and Health Officer said that 5440 doses of ‘Kovishield’ made by Serum Institute of India have been received in the district. Personnel and frontline workers in the health sector will be vaccinated. The vaccination campaign will begin on January 16 with vaccines to health workers in six locations in the district. Vaccination work will be done at Community Health Center Bastanar, Bakavand, Bastar, Nangur, BSC Nursing College Jagdalpur and Medical College Dimarapal. Preparations have been made to vaccinate 100-100 people in all these centers. It is noteworthy that this vaccination is being done to prevent corona infection and to break its link. Health workers frequently come in contact with patients, which increases the likelihood of infection in its community. To break this link, this vaccine is being given to the health workers first. Immunization of security personnel and sweepers such as frontliners will also be done. As per the protocol set by the Health Department, adequate arrangements have been made to transport and store these vaccines. Jagdalpur for vaccination at all centers and rehearsal to deal with emergencies have also been done. An insulated vaccine van has been arranged to send the vaccine from the main storage center to the vaccination center. The AEFI & Adverse Event Following Immunization management system has been strengthened from the state level to the immunization sites to manage any adverse event or emergency after vaccination. All vaccination centers have been linked to the nearest AEFI management system such as medical colleges, district hospitals or community health centers.
