Since its launch, the Innova has been updated three times. The first generation was built on a ladder-frame chassis, replacing the Toyota Qualis. In 2016, the company launched the Innova Crysta, which featured design changes, new engines, and more features. In 2022, Toyota introduced the Innova Hycross, built on a monocoque platform. It features a front-wheel-drive layout and a self-charging hybrid powertrain. It includes a 2.0-liter petrol engine paired with an electric motor and an e-CVT gearbox. Toyota claims that it offers the best mileage in its segment. By November 2024, over 1 lakh units of the Hycross had been sold.
