Maruti Suzuki subjected the Suzuki Baleno to crash tests, evaluating both the 2-airbag and 6-airbag versions for adult and child occupant safety. The Baleno, a popular model, had faced scrutiny regarding its safety, particularly with the availability of a 2-airbag configuration. In adult occupant safety tests, the Baleno scored 24.04 out of 32. Protection for the driver’s chest and thighs was deemed marginal, while leg protection was adequate. Front passengers received adequate overall protection with good head protection. The side moveable barrier test showed adequate head and neck protection and marginal chest protection. The side pole impact test indicated good passenger safety. These scores are applicable to various Baleno models. The vehicle tested included frontal airbags, pretensioners, and Isofix child seat anchors. Child occupant safety ratings were 16.81 out of 24, with a CRS installation score of 12 and a vehicle assessment score of 6. The 6-airbag version achieved a score of 26.52 out of 32 for adult occupant safety, earning four stars, and 34.81 out of 49 for child occupant protection, resulting in three stars. The 6-airbag variant features frontal, side head curtain, side chest, and side pelvis airbags, and Isofix seats in the rear. In a frontal offset deformable barrier test, the 6-airbag version scored 11.54 out of 16, with marginal chest and thigh protection for the driver and adequate protection for legs and neck. Front passenger protection was adequate, with good neck protection. The side moveable deformable barrier test yielded a score of 14.99 out of 16.
