PM Modi Inaugurates Maruti Suzuki's First Electric Car and Battery Production in Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes and launched exports of Maruti Suzuki's e-Vitara, its first global battery electric vehicle (BEV), from the Suzuki Motor Plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The e-Vitara, manufactured in India, will be exported to over a hundred countries. The event also marked the commencement of hybrid battery electrode production at a plant in Gujarat. The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of this step towards India's self-reliance and its emergence as a hub for green mobility. The e-Vitara was first showcased in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. With this, India is set to become Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles, aligning with the government's goal of positioning India as a global hub for electric mobility, advanced manufacturing, and infrastructure development.
