Chinese automaker BYD (Build Your Dreams) has broken the world record in the electric car category with its Yangwang U9 Track Edition hypercar. The vehicle achieved a top speed of 472.41 km/h, surpassing the previous record of 431.45 km/h held by the Rimac Nevera R, which was set in July 2025. The record-breaking run took place at the Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) track in Germany, the same location where Rimac set its previous record. The Yangwang U9 Track Edition, a track-focused variant, demonstrates significant advancements over the standard Yangwang U9, which previously achieved a top speed of 391.94 km/h in November 2024. The car's performance highlights extensive technical improvements and aerodynamic enhancements.
