Odisha’s Vigilance department has taken Susil Kumar Panda, an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) from Ganjam block, into custody following the discovery of assets significantly exceeding his declared income. The arrest was made after investigations revealed that Panda’s assets were 163% greater than his known sources of income. Searches were conducted at seven locations across Berhampur, Puri, Ganjam, and his office, leading to the seizure of a multi-storey building, two flats, six high-value plots, cash, gold, and substantial bank and insurance deposits. Panda was unable to provide satisfactory documentation to account for the origin of these assets.
