Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said the State Government will link development of farming sector in Chhattisgarh with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
Addressing the 8th Indian Horticultural Congress at the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University (IGAU) here, the Chief Minister said that during the upcoming Gram Sabhas on January 26, the grazing ground for cattle must be identified.
He said that the Agriculture Production Commssioner had been directed to organise Gram Sabhas in co-ordination with Panchayat and Rural Development Department.
The Chief Minister said that due to lack of irrigation facilities, one is encountering the problem of stray cattle in the farming sector.
He urged the farmers to confine cattle so that cost of putting up fensing could be saved.
Baghel urged the farmers to seek advise of agricultural scientists to grow tomato, onion and potato crops.
He also urged the farmers to advise farmers on conserving crops due to effect of climate change.
