Chief Secretary reviews the status of distribution of organic fertilizers

Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain took a meeting of senior administrative officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Department at Mahanadi Mantralaya Bhawan today, production of organic manure from cow dung being purchased under Godhan Nyay Yojana in Gauthans of the state and cooperative society to farmers. A thorough review of the distribution status through Chief Secretary Shri Jain said that the state of Chhattisgarh is moving fast towards organic and re-generative farming. According to the intention of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to promote organic farming in the state, arrangements should be ensured for the production and distribution of organic manure on a large scale in Gauthans. He directed the officers to ensure distribution of 6.50 lakh quintals of organic manure, including vermi compost and super compost, available in Gauthans to the farmers in the current month through societies. The Chief Secretary said that keeping in view the upcoming Kharif season 2022, the production of organic manure should be sustained so that farmers can use it as an alternative to chemical fertilizers. He directed the officers to prepare an action plan to make available 19 lakh quintals of compost manure in agricultural credit through the distribution societies in Kharif 2022. The Chief Secretary said that Vermi Compost is a better alternative to chemical fertilizers, DAP and Super Phosphate. Due to the lack of DAP last season, the farmers of the state used vermi compost for farming. He talked about promoting organic farming for better farming at low cost as well as maintaining the fertility of soil and production of non-toxic food grains. The Chief Secretary said that organic manure should be used in the crop demonstration in the field and the farmers of the area should also be given observation, this would motivate the farmers to use organic manure. Women self-help groups have produced 16.50 lakh quintals of organic manure. Out of which 10 lakh quintals of organic fertilizers have been sold. About 6.50 lakh quintals of organic manure is available for sale in Gauthans. By the month of July, production of about 19 lakh quintals of organic manure is possible. The Chief Secretary instructed the officers to get the distribution of organic fertilizers done to the farmers through the societies as per the action plan.
