The Kosa Krimipalan scheme of the Silk Department has opened the doors of prosperity for 20 families. While their lives have become happier, this scheme has proved to be a boon for these families. In village Torna under Barmakela development block of Raigad district, a group of 20 families are engaged in coco production, self-help group, Torna Kosa worm rearing. In this group 11 families belong to village Sanda and 9 families belong to Bar village. Dr. Rajesh Baghel, Additional Director, Sericulture Department informed that Arjun plants have been planted in an area of 47 hectares in Torna village. Each family member is allotted a plot of 2 hectares, in which he cultivates Kosa, the cultivation of Kosa is done in a period of 6 months, during this period he also has to take care of him. Under the care, cutting-pruning etc. of Arjuna trees are done. In this plot, 12 lakh 65 thousand 500 kosa fruits worth Rs 16 lakh 86 thousand 401 were produced by these 20 members in the year 2021-22. A new and unique atmosphere is created by a group of 20 families working together in one place. The members of the Kosa Production Swavalamban Group, Torna, have expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Chief Minister of the state, Shri Bhupesh Baghel and Village Industries Minister Guru Rudra Kumar for promoting cocoon production.
