MP Shri Rahul Gandhi appreciates products made from natural fibers

Member of Parliament Shri Rahul Gandhi visited the development exhibition based on the schemes and achievements put up by various departments at Science College ground here today. During this, Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, Speaker of the Assembly Dr. Charandas Mahant, Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey along with other members of the Cabinet were present. Shri MP Shri Rahul Gandhi discussed with the women groups who are benefiting from the processing units. Jai Santoshi Women’s Self-Help Group of Bemetara demonstrated the method of processing banana stem to extract natural fiber. The women told that clothes, bags, mats, paper are being made from the fiber released from the stem of the banana. Considering that banana water, a by-product of the process, is rich in nutrients for plants, it is planned to process this banana water to produce a liquid organic biofertilizer. 12 women are getting regular daily employment from this work. MP Shri Rahul Gandhi appreciated this innovation and suggested to implement this innovation on a large scale in other Gauthans also.MP Shri Rahul Gandhi inspected the C-Mart put up in the exhibition. A range of products put up by women’s groups at Gauthans were kept in various stalls here. Member of Parliament Shri Rahul Gandhi appreciated the initiative of linking the products in a systematic supply chain with packaging and branding here. He said that this would provide a retail counter for the local products of Chhattisgarh and these products would be directly accessible to the consumers and would create a regular income opportunity for the women groups. Separate departmental stores or malls will be opened in the capital and all the districts for each item produced from Gauthans and Rural Rural Industrial Parks. Here items will be sold in retail and wholesale, it has been named as C-Mart. This will motivate the Rural Industrial Park to supply demand driven products. During this, MP Shri Rahul Gandhi also praised and encouraged by seeing the cabbage of five different colors produced by the farmers of Divya Yadunandan Verma Organic Agriculture Farm Malhar in Bilaspur district. Cabbage has been grown in the farm using Burmese compost made in Gothan. Shri Jagmohan Vishwakarma presented his handmade oil painting to MP Shri Rahul Gandhi. During this, he was presented with a jacket made from red Amari fiber and a shawl of Eri silk from the group. MP Shri Rahul Gandhi conducted a campaign in Krishi Dome to promote crop productivity and diversification along with the empowerment of agricultural works by the Government of Chhattisgarh. Visited the exhibition of various schemes of the government. He appreciated the efforts to generate employment through value addition in agricultural produce. During this, MP Shri Rahul Gandhi visited the exhibition of Adarsh ​​Gauthan showing four symbols of Chhattisgarh namely Narva, Garwa, Ghurva and Bari and discussed with the women groups benefiting from the livelihood activities being conducted in Gauthan and got to know their experiences. He also inquired about the production of vermicompost and the income from the groups. Digeshwari Chauhan of Gayatri Mahila Self Help Group working in Gothan of Rampuram Panchayat in Sukma’s far southern district of Chhattisgarh said that 10 women are associated with her group. She is earning regular income by doing poultry farming, Kadaknath rearing, vegetable production, vermi compost manufacturing, fish farming, mushroom production, goat rearing in Gauthan. MP Shri Rahul Gandhi tasted the filter coffee of Jhiram of Darbha at the Bastar Cafe set up in the exhibition. Praising the quality of coffee, he talked about working for the recognition of Bastar Coffee at the national and international level like other coffee brands. Coffee is produced by Danteshwari Self Help Group of Darbha along with local FPO. The farmers said that during the exposition visit, MP Shri Rahul Gandhi also met the beneficiaries of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. He asked the beneficiary farmers about the impact of the scheme on farming.
