Member of Parliament Shri Rahul Gandhi visited the processing units of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi while visiting the exhibition stalls at Science College ground today. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel told Mr Gandhi that Millet Mission has been started in Chhattisgarh to promote millet crops. Under which Kodo, Kutki and Ragi are being purchased from the farmers producing these crops at support price. Along with this, a provision has been made to give an input subsidy of Rs 10,000 per acre to the farmers taking Kodo, Kutki and Ragi crops under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. The millets to be purchased will be used in the mid-day meal program Anganwadi’s nutritional diet program to remove malnutrition. He also informed that small processing units and packaging units are being set up in the villages producing millets. Arrangements have been made by experts to provide technical guidance as well as good seeds for millet production. For this MoU has been signed between India Institute of Millet Research Hyderabad and 14 millet producing districts of the state. MP Shri Rahul Gandhi appreciated the Millet Mission of Chhattisgarh.
