The meeting of the task force on the eradication of single use plastic under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary concluded.

In connection with the preparation of a detailed action plan for the eradication of single use plastic in the state, a meeting of the task force was held today through video conferencing under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain. In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Environment Department Mr. Subrata Sahu, Secretary, Urban Administration Department, Alarmelmangai D., Mr. Prasanna R., Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department and Mr. R.P. Tiwari, Member Secretary, C.G. Environmental Protection Board participated. In the meeting, discussions were held to prepare a comprehensive action plan regarding the eradication of single use plastic as per the guidelines received from the Government of India. Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain directed that various industrial institutions and departments of the state should be encouraged to explore the alternatives of single use plastic and implement the best practical methods implemented in other states of the country in their own states. He directed that public awareness campaign should be conducted on a large scale regarding the eradication of single-use plastic such as electronic media, print media and social media. Manufacture of additional short-life PVC and chlorinated plastics i.e. advertising and promotional materials (PVC banners, flakes, hoardings, foam boards etc.) and food plastic items (cups, glasses, plates, bowls and spoons) with immediate effect , storage, import, sale, transport and use has been banned in the state of Chhattisgarh. A task force has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary in relation to the preparation of a detailed action plan for the eradication of single use plastic by the State Government. In this committee, Secretary, Housing and Environment Department, Secretary, Commerce and Industry Department, Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Secretary, Urban Administration and Development Department and Member Secretary, Ch.
