Minister Dr. Tekam rewarded the winners

Under the chairmanship of Scheduled Castes and Tribes Development Minister Dr. Prem Sai Singh Tekam, the three-day state level sports, cultural and intellectual competition of Eklavya Model Residential Schools was concluded at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium today. Bastar division was the overall champion in the competition. In the state sports competition, Bastar division has secured first, Surguja second and Bilaspur division has secured third position. Similarly, in cultural and intellectual competition, Bilaspur division got first place, Durg division got second and Raipur division got third place in cultural and intellectual competition for age group below 14 years and age group up to 19 years. Minister Dr. Tekam presented the prizes to all the winning participants. On this occasion, Secretary, Scheduled Castes and Tribes Development Department, Shri D.D. Singh, Commissioner Smt. Shammi Abidi, trainers, coaches and participating students were present. While addressing the concluding ceremony, Minister Dr. Tekam said that Eklavya Vidyalaya is undoubtedly the center of all-round development of tribal students. Where not only children get education, but physical, mental and cultural development also takes place. He said that through the competition, from the second week of December, students have participated in this state level competition after participating in the school, district, division level competition. For the last two years, even after the outbreak of Corona period, the hard work and enthusiasm of the children has not decreased, whether it is sports activities or cultural and intellectual competition, children have participated with enthusiasm. On the concluding occasion, the children gave beautiful presentations of cultural programs as well as gave the message of the schemes of the government like cleanliness campaign, organic production and other schemes. Minister Dr. Tekam said that 7 countries will participate in the Tribal Dance Festival on the State Foundation Day. The artist of the film also gave cultural performances of his country. This has increased our cultural heritage. He congratulated the winners of various competitions and wished them all the best for their bright future. Dr. Tekam said that through the competition the participants get a chance to hone their talent. The children who did not succeed in this competition, they should work harder, they will definitely get success in the coming future. Singh said that more than 15 thousand children displayed their talent in the state level competition. In the sports competition, participants performed in 16 types of sports disciplines. The competition was organized for boys and girls in the age group of 14 years and above 19 years. Shammi Abidi, Commissioner of Scheduled Castes and Tribes, while presenting the report regarding the competition, said that a total of 71 Eklavya Model Residential Schools are operating in the state, including 29 in Bastar division, 21 in Surguja division, 11 in Bilaspur division, Durg and There are 5 schools in Raipur division, out of which 10 are girls, 6 boys and 55 are combined schools. State level sports competition includes Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Swimming, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Archery, Karate, Wrestling, Table Tennis.
