Purchase of Kodo-Kutki and Ragi: Farmers of Baiga special backward tribe residing in Vananchal are also getting good benefits

With the purchase of millet crops like Kodo, Kutki and Ragi in the state by the Chhattisgarh Government, the farmers of the special backward tribe Baiga group residing in Vananchal under Bilaspur District Union have also started getting substantial benefits. In this context, out of all the 23 primary minor forest produce committees under Bilaspur, complete arrangements have been made for the purchase of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi in 19 committees. So far, purchase of Kodo has started in most of these committees. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the farmers of Vananchal due to their purchase. The farmers of Baiga special backward tribe in Khudia, who benefited from this, happily told that even before this we used to collect crops like Kodo, Kutki and Ragi etc. The amount was available at the rate of kilogram only. With this important decision of the state government, along with increasing our income, there will be a significant change in our lives. On the last day on 9th December, Bajaj inspected the Primary Minor Forest Produce Committee Khudia under Bilaspur District Union. The farmers of Baiga tribe present in the committee, Sarvshree Johan, Gaunu, Mohanu, Agnu, Amaru, Karthik, Ramli, Mangal and Chamru Ram etc. expressed great happiness over the purchase of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi by the State Government and by them the State Government. Thanks were given. It is noteworthy that under this procurement campaign, which will run from December 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022, the support price of Kodo and Kutki has been fixed at Rs 30 per kg and for Ragi at Rs 33.77 per kg.
