Today, on the International Day of Older Persons, a respect ceremony for the elderly people of the district was organized in a dignified manner at the local town hall. In which 300 old people who have done excellent work in various fields like social upliftment, cultural, literary, sports etc. were honored with shawl, shriphal and flower mala. The chief guest of the said program, Shri Devchand Matlam said that parents, senior citizens are our source of inspiration. It is only by their sacrifice that we climb the ladder of development. So we should respect them. Along with this, while giving information about the maintenance, protection and rights of the old people, he said that even in this age of age, the old people should always be happy and give the benefit of their experience to the new generation. Earlier, Deputy Director Social Welfare Smt. Lalita Lakra gave detailed information about the purpose of organizing the international elderly people, the schemes run by the department for the elderly and the facilities being provided by the government to senior citizens. At the end of the program, the winners of various types of games organized for the elderly like Matka burst, chair race, lemon race and rope rope competitions were also awarded to the seniors. In this, DR Korram stood first in chair race (men’s category), Shamdai among women, Chamru Poyam and Mangalu Sori in Matka race and Shamdai among women. Apart from this, Chain Singh and Shamdai stood first in the lemon race. On this occasion Smt.
