Demonstration forest will be developed near all district headquarters

There is tremendous enthusiasm among the people about the Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Promotion Scheme launched by the state government, as well as some curiosity about it. Demonstration forests will be developed near all the district headquarters of the state to make people aware of the provisions and benefits of this scheme and to address their queries. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed the Chief Secretary to identify at least 10 acres of government land around all the district headquarters.
The Chief Minister has said that people will be able to take maximum benefit of this scheme by knowing about the provisions and benefits of this scheme through these demonstration forests. Along with the planting of trees of timber and other species on the identified land, medicinal plants will also be planted as an intercrop. In this, he has directed to take the help of the officials of the Forest and Agriculture Department as well as the scientists of the Agricultural University and display the details of the economic benefits of plantation of all species there. The Chief Minister has said that in the coming years, people in the private sector will also get encouragement for commercial plantation.
It is worth mentioning that with the objective of promoting tree plantation in the state and providing a new source of income to the farmers through this, the Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Promotion Scheme has been started from June 1, 2021. Under the Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Incentive Scheme, farmers who have taken paddy crop in Kharif year 2020, if they plant trees in their fields instead of paddy crop, they will be given incentive at the rate of 10 thousand rupees per acre per year for the next 3 years. Similarly, if commercial plantation will be done from the amount available with the Gram Panchayats, then in case of successful plantation after one year, the concerned Gram Panchayats will be given incentive at the rate of Rs.10 thousand per acre from the government. This will also increase the income of Panchayats in future. Apart from this, if tree plantation is done on the revenue land on commercial basis from the amount available with Joint Forest Management Committees, then like Panchayat, a provision has been made to give incentive at the rate of 10 thousand rupees per acre to the concerned committee after one year. . Under this scheme, the right to cut and sell trees has been given to the concerned committee.
