The curtains fell on Lakme Fashion Week at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on March 22, capping four glamorous days from March 19. Amidst the glamour, Khadi India stole the spotlight with its NavaDhara showcase, presenting stylish, exclusive Khadi collections to an international audience.
Stepping up as the star promoter was Raja Kumari, the US-based Indian hip-hop artist known for her bold voice. She captivated everyone by performing ‘Made in India’ while modeling Khadi attire, merging her musical prowess with fashion flair.
Overjoyed by the experience, Raja Kumari told IANS, ‘Performing here in Khadi was exhilarating, especially seeing fans love the song.’ She delved deeper: ‘Music and fashion bridge cultures worldwide. I want people to notice my fashion choices alongside my tracks. This is a dream stage for style enthusiasts.’
Her outfit, a masterpiece by designer Shrutti Sanchati, blended Khadi with silk and check patterns for a sophisticated look. ‘We must celebrate Khadi’s pride and effort,’ she added. ‘It’s incredibly soft—I learned how much work goes into it after this.’
Speculation swirled around her role in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming ‘King’ after her ‘Jawan’ success. Smiling coyly, she replied, ‘No comments yet; I need to speak with Suhana first.’
Raja Kumari’s appearance not only elevated Khadi’s profile but also sparked excitement for her Bollywood ventures, blending desi roots with global appeal.
