In a dramatic operation, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch Central Range staff arrested Rahul Paswan, a Bihar native wanted in multiple property fraud cases. The 2023 Laxmi Nagar FIR had labeled him a proclaimed offender, but he managed to stay under the radar until now.
The breakthrough came via secret tips, prompting the formation of a dedicated team. Under Inspector Sunil Kumar Kalkhande’s leadership and ACP Pankaj Arora’s oversight, officers surveilled Paswan and nabbed him in Kashmiri Gate parking as he plotted his escape from the capital.
Paswan, who had relocated to Faridabad to dodge arrest, built trust by presenting himself as a savvy property dealer. He targeted buyers and sellers alike, showcasing fake or non-existent deals, pocketing advances, and disappearing. Three FIRs at Laxmi Nagar, plus complaints in Gurugram and Faridabad, highlight the scale of his deceit.
Educated and articulate in English, Paswan started his fraudulent career in Laxmi Nagar, expanded to Gurugram, and hid in Faridabad. His smooth-talking persona made him convincing to victims dreaming of homeownership.
Police are now piecing together more cases linked to him, emphasizing the need for caution in real estate transactions. This catch sends a strong message to fraudsters exploiting the booming property market.
