Mathura erupted in chaos following the death of cow protector Chandrashekhar, popularly known as ‘Farsa Wale Baba,’ in what appears to be a deliberate truck collision. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alerted to the matter, has instructed officials for immediate and stringent action against the perpetrators.
The incident unfolded on the Delhi-Agra highway when Baba tried intercepting a container believed to be carrying smuggled cows. According to family and followers, as he positioned himself to halt the vehicle, a trailing truck accelerated and crushed him, killing him on the spot before speeding away.
News of the tragedy spread like wildfire, drawing hundreds to the highway. Protesters demanded justice, including encounters for the accused, leading to a complete blockade. The standoff turned violent with rocks hurled at police, resulting in injuries to officers and destruction of five to six police vehicles.
Police responded decisively with baton charges and tear gas to control the rampaging crowd. Heavy deployment now blankets the area as investigations proceed. SSP Shlok Kumar confirmed identification of the involved trucks and drivers, assuring a comprehensive inquiry.
In his statement, the Chief Minister underscored zero tolerance for lawlessness, promising no mercy for those flouting rules or disturbing public order.
