In a shocking highway mishap, a cargo truck’s tire explosion led to a fiery collision in Karnataka’s Koppal district, killing two crew members instantly. The drama played out pre-dawn on March 21 near Kushtagi town, along the bustling National Highway.
Operated by VRL Transport Company, the lorry was en route from Maharashtra’s Solapur to Gangavati when disaster struck at approximately 4:30 AM. As it approached the Ashok Leyland showroom, the front tire gave way abruptly. The driver lost control, the truck scaled the central divider, and smashed into a tipper coming from the opposite direction.
The impact was devastating—the truck somersaulted, its fuel tank ruptured and burst into flames, melting parts of the road surface. Emergency responders, including fire tenders, arrived promptly but faced a raging inferno.
