Tension gripped the Jewar area near Bulandshahr as a routine police patrol turned into a life-threatening encounter with an armed fugitive. CO Bhaskar Mishra briefed reporters on the Friday morning clash that left gangster Nainu Mavi nursing a leg wound after exchanging gunfire with Sikandrabad police.
It all started with a standard checkpoint. Spotting a dubious bike, officers waved it down. The rider panicked, revving up and fleeing the scene. A pursuit ensued across rural roads until the suspect crashed while maneuvering sharply. Surrounded and desperate, he unleashed a barrage of shots at the law enforcers.
The police responded swiftly in legitimate self-defense, neutralizing the threat with a precise shot to his lower limb. The captured man, Nivesh @ Nainu Mavi from Joli village, son of Amarjeet, confessed during questioning to masterminding the Holi-day assassination plot against Anil Mavi. Authorities confirmed his most-wanted status in neighboring Gautam Buddh Nagar.
Recovered items painted a picture of hardened criminality: a pilfered motorbike stolen from the very Sikandrabad station, a tantucha pistol, a live round, and an empty casing. After preliminary treatment, Mavi is under custody as investigations deepen.
The episode fits a pattern of decisive police interventions in Uttar Pradesh. Recall the March 18 Mathura showdown where cops took down a Holi shooting prime suspect alongside accomplices Sanju ‘Danger’ and Gaurav. Earlier, on February 27, Agra witnessed a joint STF operation injuring Pawan ‘Kallu,’ highlighting the state’s zero-tolerance stance on gang violence.
