Chaibasa, Jharkhand witnessed a horrifying patricide on Friday when a son mercilessly bludgeoned his father to death with a stick amid a trivial quarrel over home construction. His stepmother, attempting to stop the violence, was savagely beaten and now fights for life in hospital.
Details emerged from Kumaradungi under West Singhbhum, where Satyawan Pan and son Prakash clashed in their yard. The dispute centered on building a government-provided house, but tempers flared beyond control. Prakash seized a sturdy stick and pounded his father relentlessly, ignoring pleas around him.
As the stepmother—known locally as ‘chhoti ma’—stepped in to separate them, Prakash assaulted her with equal brutality, leaving her in a pool of blood. Shouts drew villagers who ferried her to medical aid, but Satyawan had already breathed his last within their home.
Law enforcement arrived promptly, securing the scene, the victim’s body for autopsy, and the bloodied stick as evidence. Medical experts noted deep cranial injuries as the fatal cause, with massive hemorrhage sealing his fate.
The accused, Prakash Pan, fled immediately, sparking a police dragnet across suspected locations. Officials hint at simmering family resentments, possibly exacerbated by the stepmother’s presence, though the motive probe continues.
This gruesome act has cast a pall over the community, with whispers of outrage and sorrow echoing through homes. As the injured woman battles at Chaibasa Sadar Hospital, villagers demand justice, underscoring how a simple argument spiraled into unimaginable tragedy.
