At a key media briefing, Minister of State for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, and Export Dinesh Pratap Singh kicked off by honoring cold storage operators and potato farmers. He spotlighted the central leadership’s commitment to farmer welfare and outlined ongoing initiatives for improved storage and sales channels.
A major boost came from a deal with Odisha for 1.5 million metric tons of potatoes, promising enhanced market access and fairer prices. However, this progress was nearly derailed when ammonia supplies dwindled due to international factors, risking the entire stored produce.
Acting decisively under CM Yogi’s guidance, the state reached out to key Union ministers. JP Nadda and Hardeep Singh Puri responded promptly, convening with representatives and ordering immediate supply restorations. Ammonia flows restarted, securing the cold chains just in time.
The minister described the resolution as a testament to unified action, thanking top leadership and acknowledging Tripti Singh’s pivotal role. This not only salvaged the harvest but also reinforced trust in governmental responsiveness.
