In a fiery rebuttal, Congress parliamentarian Tarek Anwar labeled BJP actor-turned-MP Kangana Ranaut’s Lok Sabha tirade against Rahul Gandhi as utterly objectionable. During an interaction with IANS in the national capital, Anwar shrugged off the actress’s outburst as predictable given her outsider status in politics.
‘Expect nothing better from a film star who doesn’t know the ABCs of political discourse,’ he remarked pointedly. Anwar highlighted how Ranaut’s choice of words betrayed a profound ignorance of the respect due to the opposition leader.
On Shashi Tharoor’s endorsement of India’s Middle East approach, Anwar distanced the party line, calling it an individual opinion. He advocated for principled solidarity with longstanding allies facing crises. ‘True diplomacy means reciprocating loyalty when friends are in distress,’ he asserted.
Anwar voiced frustration at India’s ambiguous positioning in the US-Israel-Iran conflict triangle, demanding clarity on the nation’s strategic priorities.
He reserved sharp criticism for ‘Dhundhar 2,’ decrying its propagandistic content and graphic violence as a direct assault on communal harmony. ‘This film vilifies an entire community with baseless accusations, breeding animosity across society,’ Anwar warned. He called on authorities to scrutinize such cinematic provocations that risk inflaming public sentiments and eroding national unity in the years ahead.
