A fresh political row erupts in Uttar Pradesh as Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav demand Bharat Ratna for BSP pioneer Kanshi Ram. UP cabinet minister Asim Arun dismissed it as opportunistic posturing, exposing decades of neglect by Congress and SP toward Dalits.
Speaking candidly, Arun charged that Congress repeatedly sabotaged Dalit aspirations while exploiting their votes for power. ‘They discarded both parties once awakened,’ he said. ‘This latest stunt is mere vote-grabbing ahead of polls.’
Kanshi Ram’s legacy, Arun highlighted, stemmed from grassroots mobilization. Cycling through villages, he united the oppressed, transforming protests into the formidable BSP. Tragically, his contributions were ignored by rivals in power.
After Ram’s passing, Congress and SP shunned his samadhi. Rahul’s administration even erased his name from key institutions. Mayawati’s Bharat Ratna plea was rebuffed by Congress as unworthy. Dalits, discerning the duplicity, shifted alliances.
Today, with BJP at the helm, honors are flowing to forgotten heroes. ‘We’re rectifying past injustices,’ Arun affirmed. He mocked Congress’s current advocacy: ‘Powerless now, you’re singing a different tune. Dalits see through it.’
Arun also addressed LPG concerns, noting central assurances of sufficient stocks. ‘Oil tankers are crossing borders; no shortages ahead,’ he said, crediting coordinated efforts between center and state.
