In a passionate defense of India’s sports revolution, Minister Mansukh Mandaviya told Parliament that the Khelo India Mission is the cornerstone of the country’s ambitions for the Commonwealth Games and Olympics. During a lively Question Hour session on March 16, he detailed how this program addresses longstanding gaps in athlete preparation.
‘Past regimes saw delayed training and budget shortfalls,’ Mandaviya noted. ‘Today, Khelo India ensures timely readiness, medal boosts, and a shift from federation politics to collaborative progress. We’ve introduced a new sports policy and the Sports Governance Bill to clean up the system.’
The minister chronicled the Modi government’s sports legacy: starting with Khelo India and Fit India movements, evolving into comprehensive policies, and culminating in the ambitious Khelo India Mission. ‘These initiatives are building a sports superpower,’ he declared.
Responding to opposition queries on player support, Mandaviya elaborated on financial assistance. National squads receive full funding for overseas tournaments. For promising individuals in private or unofficial events short on cash, the ministry intervenes swiftly—providing air tickets and other essentials. ‘No talented athlete should miss out due to financial constraints,’ he stressed.
As India eyes international triumphs, Mandaviya’s words resonate with athletes and fans alike. The mission isn’t just about medals; it’s about igniting a nationwide sports fervor that promises sustained excellence on the world stage.
