East Delhi’s Vivek Vihar police scored a major win against vehicle theft with the arrest of two seasoned auto lifters. The duo was caught red-handed, leading to the seizure of a black Royal Enfield Bullet stolen from Jhilmil Colony and their getaway Splendor Plus bike packed with theft tools.
Akash, 22, and Anoop Kumar, 22, hailing from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad, fell into the trap during a proactive night patrol. Responding to escalating bike snatches, SHO Harkesh Gaba’s team, overseen by ACP Mohit Singh, maintained vigilant rounds.
At 2 AM between February 28 and March 1, officers Subhash Kumar and Chintu confronted the suspects hovering around parked vehicles. A search revealed screwdrivers, wire cutters, and other implements. Cross-checking CCTV confirmed their involvement in the February 23 Bullet heist.
Interrogation broke their silence: the addicts confessed to repeated thefts to fund habits and ease poverty. They detailed the Jhilmil Colony robbery, prompting a raid on Anoop’s Bhopura residence where the Bullet was hidden. The case, filed as e-FIR 04195/2026 under BNS 305(b), marks a key victory.
Despite prior brushes with crime, the 10th-pass duo had slipped through before. This bust disrupts their operations and signals police resolve. As investigations deepen, locals breathe easier knowing threats are neutralized.
