Ranchi ramps up security ahead of Holi and Ramadan with a decisive flag march in vulnerable neighborhoods, as police vow stern action against troublemakers. The Tuesday operation highlighted the administration’s resolve to safeguard communal harmony during these overlapping festivals.
Under the command of SP Paras Rana and SDO Kumar Rajat, the contingent included budding IPS officer Sakshi Jamuar, DSPs K.V. Raman and Prakash Soy, plus armed squads and precinct heads. Starting at Albert Ekka Chowk, it traversed Main Road, Karbala Chowk, and Church Road, with spot checks on commercial hubs and hotspots.
‘Any mischief under the guise of Holi will face the full force of the law,’ declared SDO Rajat, urging peaceful festivities across communities. To bolster this, Ranchi district sees 3,000 additional boots on the ground, merging local police with elite Rapid Action Force teams. Quick Response Teams stand primed district-wide for rapid intervention.
Control rooms at Kachahari are equipped with fire and medical response units for emergencies. Online vigilance is heightened via a special cell targeting fake news and provocations on digital platforms. Statewide, 5,000 jawans from armed police, reserve battalions, and home guards are mobilized.
Authorities are cracking down on rowdy behavior like coerced color application or offensive tunes, with drones providing aerial oversight in flashpoint zones. This comprehensive strategy aims to let Ranchi revel in Holi’s colors safely, fostering unity over unrest.
