Tension soared in Bihar’s Jamui after gunmen ambushed a group of men leaving evening prayers at a local mosque in Jakhra village on Sunday night. The targeted shooting, mere moments after Iftar, left four locals with life-threatening gunshot wounds, sending shockwaves through the rural community.
The assailants unleashed a hail of bullets around 7 PM, striking victims in vital areas like the chest, neck, and shoulder. In the ensuing pandemonium, the injured—Numan Khan, Mofiz Khan, Arbaaz Khan, and Armaan Khan—were hurried to Sadar Hospital before being airlifted to Patna as their conditions deteriorated rapidly.
Numan Khan, in particular, teeters on the edge, his family distraught by his bedside. Police trace the motive to a simmering six-month-old dispute over livestock trespassing fields, which had previously led to assaults and bail for one side, fueling revenge.
Blame falls on Rizwan Khan (Nato), his namesake son Numan, along with Gufran, Abdullah, and Shameem Khan, who vanished post-attack. The village splits into rival camps, with heavy police presence from nearby stations preventing escalation.
SDPO Satish Suman detailed how victim testimonies pinpointed the culprits, triggering immediate manhunts and house-to-house searches. As the neighborhood reels from fear and grief, law enforcement promises decisive action to quell the unrest and bring the shooters to book, underscoring Bihar’s persistent challenges with rural vendettas.
