Ranchi authorities launched a multi-location swoop on Sunday, exposing a sophisticated prostitution ring that had taken root in the city’s bustling areas. Eight arrests were made, comprising five women and three men caught red-handed in illicit operations.
The operation stemmed from SSP Rakesh Ranjan’s alert on systematic sex trade in Lalpur, Chutia, and surrounding zones. More than 20 women were reportedly exploited in budget hotels and leased flats under the racket’s control.
City SP Paras Rana led the elite squad in synchronized strikes across jurisdictions. The raids yielded the prostitution syndicate’s mastermind—a woman with a history of crime—and several clients on site.
Preliminary probes indicate the kingpin sourced victims from West Bengal and beyond, luring them to Ranchi for forced prostitution. She has faced imprisonment before for similar offenses.
Intensive questioning of the arrested is underway, aiming to dismantle the entire network. Ranchi’s law enforcement vows relentless pursuit against such exploitative crimes, signaling zero tolerance for human trafficking in the region.
