Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has greenlit a whopping ₹10,000 crore payout to paddy farmers, set to hit their accounts this Saturday ahead of Holi celebrations. Calling farmers the ‘strong spine’ of the nation’s economy, Sai met with a delegation who honored him with paddy weighed in tribute.
The funds, disbursed via the Krishi Unnati Yojana, settle the procurement differential for the current season. At ₹3,100 per quintal—the nation’s highest rate—the state bought 21 quintals per acre, benefiting 25.24 lakh growers who supplied 141 lakh MT of paddy.
Sai highlighted transformative schemes like Kisan Credit Cards that ended exploitative loans from sahukars. Now, with interest-free loans and PM Sinchayi Yojana expanding irrigated areas, farmers are better equipped than ever.
Kicking off from Bilaspur on the 28th, the transfer will be feted like a block-level carnival. This Holi eve bonanza underscores the government’s unwavering support, promising sustained prosperity and development for Chhattisgarh’s agrarian heartland.
In a state where agriculture drives growth, such proactive measures boost morale and liquidity, ensuring farmers celebrate the festival of colors with financial security and optimism for the future.
