In a dramatic courtroom finale, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on February 27 cleared Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia of all charges in the alleged liquor policy scam, ending a turbulent chapter in Indian politics.
The AAP supremo, who stepped down as Chief Minister amid the probe, was seen weeping uncontrollably upon hearing the verdict. Sisodia, released after months in jail, enveloped him in a warm hug, symbolizing unbreakable camaraderie.
Addressing jubilant party workers, Kejriwal proclaimed his innocence: ‘This fake case was meant to tarnish us, but the court exposed the truth. We are utterly honest.’ He recounted years of BJP’s relentless attacks, now nullified by the judge’s ruling acquitting everyone involved.
Kejriwal didn’t hold back against the Centre: ‘Modi and Shah conspired to bury AAP by imprisoning its key figures. They threw mud at us instead of solving real problems like skyrocketing prices, joblessness, potholed roads, and choking pollution.’
Praising India’s justice system, he said, ‘Truth wins. I thank the judge from the bottom of my heart.’ His wife Sunita echoed the sentiment online, invoking divine power over worldly might.
This acquittal reshapes Delhi’s political landscape, bolstering AAP’s credibility. Kejriwal called on opponents to compete on performance, not vendettas. As celebrations spread, the party eyes future battles with renewed vigor.
