Arunachal Pradesh took a bold step toward educational equity as Chief Minister Pema Khandu unveiled the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Center in Doimukh on Thursday. Nestled in Papum Pare district, this facility embodies the spirit of NEP 2020 and Nipun Bharat, targeting universal basic proficiency in literacy and numeracy for young learners by Class 3.
Khandu hailed it as a game-changer during the inauguration, stressing that weak foundations doom students to lifelong struggles. The center introduces playful, structured pedagogy in public schools, emphasizing local languages for intuitive grasping of concepts. With ongoing evaluations, targeted interventions, empowered teachers, and engaged communities, it’s built for sustained impact.
Literacy training spans narrative sessions, phonetic decoding, reading fluency, listening-writing exercises, and creative expression. An innovative Android smartboard delivers CBSE-synced digital content for hands-on engagement. Numeracy follows a progressive CPA model—hands-on objects to visuals to abstract math—sharpening calculation skills, logical thinking, and collaborative study.
A standout feature is the cultural heritage space, where kids explore Arunachal’s diverse tribal legacies and traditional wisdom. This blend of modern methods and indigenous roots ensures children thrive academically while staying connected to their origins. As Arunachal pioneers this model, it could inspire nationwide reforms in foundational education, bridging urban-rural divides.
