In a pointed critique, Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s narrative on infiltrators, questioning the NDA’s 21-year record in the state. Speaking to the media in Patna, Yadav laid bare what he sees as hypocrisy in the ruling camp’s border security rhetoric.
‘Bihar has been under NDA for two decades, with their party at the Centre. Stopping infiltration was their job, plain and simple,’ Yadav asserted. He accused the government of neglecting its responsibilities, allowing the issue to fester.
Drawing from official records, Yadav noted the Election Commission’s clean bill during Bihar’s voter list revision, submitted to the Supreme Court. ‘No infiltrators found then. But elections trigger these baseless claims from BJP to incite divisions,’ he remarked.
Shah, midway through his Bihar tour, ramped up the ante in Araria. Inaugurating key border posts ‘Leti’ and ‘Indarwa’, he announced a zero-tolerance drive: clearing illegal occupations within 10 km of borders and expelling infiltrators one by one. ‘No more empty promises—this is happening now,’ the Home Minister emphasized to SSB personnel.
Yadav pivoted to financial irregularities, citing CAG findings on PMAY where houses materialized overnight, signaling massive fraud. ‘Opposition demanded answers in the House; silence from the treasury looters,’ he fumed.
Looking ahead, Yadav affirmed RJD’s Rajya Sabha battle readiness: ‘Our nominee will contest and triumph.’ This verbal showdown signals escalating pre-poll skirmishes, with security and scams at the forefront.
