Rajouri’s youth stepped into the shoes of parliamentarians at the Government PG College, engaging in a district-level Youth Parliament themed around the 50th anniversary of India’s Emergency. Spearheaded by My Bharat, this initiative from the Youth Affairs Ministry aims to cultivate aware, responsible leaders for tomorrow.
Participants tackled the provocative topic head-on, reflecting on how the 21-month authoritarian phase tested India’s democratic resilience. Through eloquent arguments, they highlighted lessons like strengthening public participation and protecting constitutional safeguards against future overreaches.
Judging the contest were a distinguished panel: Dr. Mahmood Bazzar, former GMC superintendent; Prof. Bashir Ahmad, retired principal; Sandeep Sharma, district statistics officer; Vikrant Sharma, youth awardee; and Sophia Sheheen, DIET head. They scrutinized speeches for substance, delivery, and alignment with democratic principles.
Flawlessly anchored by Nitin Hangloo and Dr. Khaleeq Ahmad, the event drew chief guest Dr. Anwar Shah and other notables like Dr. Salim Wani. The program underscores My Bharat’s commitment to empowering youth through simulated governance.
District toppers 10 will represent Rajouri at the state competition, paving the way for national glory in New Delhi. This tiered structure not only hones public speaking but instills a sense of national duty, aligning with the ‘Viksit Bharat’ roadmap.
