Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, had a memorable encounter with Kashmir’s budding sports stars in New Delhi. Posting vibrant images from the meeting on X, he celebrated the transformative impact of Khelo India on these young lives.
‘Through Khelo India, these energetic youths have pledged to join hands in realizing PM Modi’s Viksit Bharat dream,’ Mandaviya posted. The interaction underscored the scheme’s role in bringing positive, life-altering changes since its inception.
Post-2014, under the Modi-led NDA regime, Jammu and Kashmir’s sports landscape has evolved dramatically. Athletes from the region are making waves nationally, bolstered by strategic initiatives like Khelo India.
These centers dot the state, where skilled trainers hone talents for bigger stages. Rajouri Sports Stadium stands out, offering boxing coaching to kids from 8-18 years, emerging as a key talent incubator.
Adding to the momentum, Gulmarg’s Khelo India Winter Games wrapped up on February 26 after four days of action. Over 400 athletes from across India competed in ice-based events, marking the second such event here—all six editions hosted in J&K and Ladakh.
This steady push from the Centre is building a robust sports ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, empowering youth to dream big and contribute to India’s growth story.
