In a display of sharp policing, Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar team resolved a Shiv temple burglary in record time—under 24 hours. Two men, including the mastermind thief and a receiver of stolen property, are now behind bars, and every pilfered item has been reclaimed.
The incident unfolded at Meet Nagar’s Shiv Mandir. Head priest Ashok Dikshit, aged 75, reported the theft on February 24, 2026. He had secured the premises the previous evening, only to find the lock broken and sacred puja materials along with cash vanished by morning.
Police filed an FIR under BNS sections 305(D) and 331(4), with SHO Inspector Ved Prakash spearheading the probe. Forensic analysis of现场 evidence pointed to a local suspect. Harbir alias Kala Baccha, 27, was swiftly detained and cracked under questioning, admitting his role.
Harbir’s tip led to a raid in Nand Nagri, where 37-year-old Dilshad was arrested with all the temple loot in his custody. Background checks showed Harbir’s involvement in seven earlier crimes, from thefts to drug and liquor violations.
With both suspects remanded, authorities are digging deeper. This quick crackdown sends a strong message to criminals targeting religious sites, enhancing trust in law enforcement across the capital.
