Haryana’s legislative assembly buzzed with activity on Wednesday as CM Nayab Singh Saini unveiled ambitious infrastructure plans amid political sparring. The spotlight was on a new Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor linking Gurugram’s Iffco Chowk to Faridabad and Noida.
Opposition voices dominated question hour, demanding answers to 20 pointed queries and slamming the government for allegedly detaining Congress leaders. Saini countered decisively, denying any house arrests and reminding them of the approved protest site at Chandigarh’s Sector 25.
Shifting gears, the CM detailed the February 24 meeting that finalized the corridor’s alignment. Haryana will host 52 kilometers of this vital link, integrating it with Gurugram’s metro network and adding a 16-km stretch in Faridabad. This connectivity upgrade is set to transform commuter experiences in the NCR, with project reports to expedite construction.
On the security front, Saini outlined collaborative efforts with adjacent states through a unified secretariat to curb cross-border smuggling. He praised Home Minister Amit Shah’s focus, facilitated by the Manas portal for discreet policing. Anti-narcotics drives now include spiritual and traditional leaders, yet influx from outside remains a hurdle.
A poignant moment arrived when Saini pledged ownership deeds to Chachrauli villagers. Built on state land since the late 19th century as unauthorized settlements, these areas house multi-generational families. With registrations up to 2020 fostering trust, the CM committed to formal rights via meticulous surveys, ensuring long-term stability.
