Bareilly-based prominent Muslim leader Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi has thrown his weight behind Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s pointed remarks on PM Narendra Modi’s Israel visit, lauding her longstanding opposition to Israeli policies.
Priyanka had expressed hope that Modi would highlight the Gaza genocide—where thousands of civilians have perished—and demand justice in his Knesset address. ‘India has always stood for the right throughout its history as a free nation. We must illuminate the world with truth, peace, and justice,’ she stated.
In an IANS interview, Razvi affirmed that Priyanka’s handling of the Gaza-Palestine crisis was impeccable and rooted in justice. He praised her for speaking truth to power. While acknowledging Modi’s cordial ties with Arab countries and Indian Muslims, Razvi questioned the wisdom of engaging Netanyahu now.
‘Netanyahu is corrupt, a killer of thousands of women, kids, and elders. Cases are pending against him in Israel’s top court, his allies are in jail for graft, and there’s an international arrest warrant,’ Razvi detailed. He urged caution, noting Israel’s hostility toward Muslim states, relentless assaults on Palestinians, and brewing US-Iran conflicts.
Razvi painted a picture of global instability exacerbated by Israel’s actions, making Modi’s visit counterproductive. On the flip side, BJP spokespersons argue the trip bolsters strategic partnerships in defense, technology, and trade between the two democracies.
This endorsement from a key Muslim voice amplifies Priyanka’s call, sparking wider discussions on India’s stance in the Middle East. As debates intensify, her position highlights a divide in how India should balance relations with Israel amid humanitarian concerns in Palestine.
