Heartbreaking news from Kullu-Manali: Vír Soren, grandson of Jharkhand’s ex-CM Champai Soren, died under mysterious circumstances during a friends’ getaway. The incident occurred at a homestay after a day of snow fun, prompting the entire Soren family to rush to the scene.
Details emerged that Vír and his companions had been reveling in the winter wonderland, skating on frozen landscapes at Solang Valley and Hampta Pass. Back at the homestay late Monday, all seemed well until Tuesday morning. Vír opted to stay in while friends ventured out for more adventures.
Upon their return, Vír shared he was battling a pounding headache. Friends gave him painkillers, and he dozed off. Disaster struck in the early afternoon when a loud fall alerted them. Vír was unconscious on the floor. In a frantic bid to save him, they sped to the local civil hospital. Tragically, medical intervention failed; he was pronounced dead after foam appeared from his mouth during transit.
Champai Soren, son Bablu, and relatives have departed Jharkhand for Shimla to handle formalities. The political fraternity in Ranchi and Kolhan division is draped in grief, with leaders expressing condolences. Vír’s sudden departure leaves a void in the family.
Police have secured the body for autopsy, probing if high altitude, medication, or an underlying condition played a role. This incident highlights the perils lurking in popular hill station escapes, especially for those unaccustomed to thin air and extreme cold. As investigations continue, the focus remains on supporting the bereaved family.
