KOLKATA – CPI(M) firebrand Gargi Chatopadhyay unleashed a blistering attack on West Bengal’s crumbling law enforcement Tuesday, labeling it ‘abysmally poor.’ In a press interaction, she described police as passive onlookers amid rising criminality.
‘Security personnel are laser-focused on guarding Mamata Banerjee, ignoring the common citizen,’ Chatopadhyay charged. This skewed priority, she argued, has turned the state into a playground for outlaws who believe they can operate with impunity.
Drawing parallels to high-profile failures like the RG Kar case, she questioned the government’s resolve against terrorism and organized crime. ‘West Bengal is fast becoming a sanctuary for thieves and bandits,’ she warned, holding the Chief Minister directly responsible.
Chatopadhyay escalated her rhetoric by exposing what she called a TMC-BJP collusion undermining democratic processes, particularly the voter list purge. ‘These parties care nothing for Bengal; they’re destroying it together,’ she declared.
Vowing robust opposition, CPI(M) will hit the streets against central interference in electoral revisions. Her outspoken stance reflects broader anxieties over security and politics in a polarized state, urging immediate reforms to salvage public trust.
