President Droupadi Murmu kicked off the ambitious ‘Save Lives and Build a Healthy India’ initiative by PD Hinduja Hospital at Mumbai’s Lok Bhawan on Tuesday. In her keynote, she declared public health a shared obligation, insisting that collaborative action is essential to deliver accessible care to the poorest.
She commended the past ten years’ transformative health reforms under the government. Ayushman Bharat stands out, insuring 12 crore families against Rs 5 lakh in yearly hospital costs, supported by 1.8 lakh health centers nationwide.
Preventive programs including Mission Indradhanush, efforts to eradicate TB, and missions against sickle cell disease are yielding remarkable results. Infrastructure growth—more MBBS seats, postgraduate programs, AIIMS institutes, and medical colleges—has enhanced medical manpower.
Emergency care demands priority, the President warned, as timely aid averts fatalities. The PM Relief Scheme offers Rs 1.5 lakh cashless aid for accident victims, complemented by ambulances, trauma facilities, and public education drives. The launched campaign aligns perfectly with these goals.
A robust nation hinges on fit individuals, Murmu stated. Healthcare is non-negotiable for progress. Universal access to cost-effective, top-tier services unites us. Spotlighting AI and tech advancements via IndiaAI Mission, she predicted expanded roles ahead.
As a top drug manufacturer, India’s exports heal globally, but import dependency on gear and key meds inflates costs. Initiatives like Make in India and PLI are shifting gears towards self-reliance. She urged industry to fuel R&D, startups, and breakthroughs.
Towards Viksit Bharat 2047, wellness is paramount. United endeavors promise elite health systems, establishing India as a wellness destination. The hospital’s pledge via this drive focuses on awareness, emergencies, and equitable healthcare.
