Amazon has made headlines by opening one of its largest offices in Asia right in the heart of Bengaluru. The 12-story behemoth covers 1.1 million square feet and is set to accommodate more than 7,000 staff members working across key areas like e-commerce, payments, tech development, operations, and vendor support.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Karnataka Minister M.B. Patil, who praised the move as a testament to India’s rising stature in global tech. ‘Amazon’s expansions like this create premium employment, strengthen local networks, and propel our digital transformation,’ he noted, expressing enthusiasm for initiatives that empower the workforce long-term.
Building on its substantial $40 billion investment in India to date, Amazon reaffirmed its promise of another $35 billion by 2030. Just 15 km from the international airport, the campus prioritizes teamwork and employee wellness through thoughtful design.
‘Bengaluru has been home to our pioneering teams for years and remains a hotspot for talent and breakthroughs,’ shared Samir Kumar, Amazon India’s Country Manager. Leisure facilities include sports courts for basketball and pickleball, an open-air theater, verdant lawns, and social zones. Diners can savor international flavors from the expansive two-level cafeteria.
Eco-conscious strategies shine through, incorporating sustainable sourcing, recycled materials, and energy-efficient tech to slash emissions. As Amazon scales up in Bengaluru, it reinforces the city’s position as India’s Silicon Valley, promising economic ripple effects for years ahead.
