Ranchi is reeling from a gruesome murder plot hatched out of jealousy in a 15-year illicit romance. Johnson Minj discovered his wife Biula Toppo’s affair with Asif Ansari and decided to end it permanently—by shelling out 8 lakh rupees to contract killers. The shocking revelation came from Ranchi police, who nabbed the wife, husband, and three hitmen in a swift operation.
Asif Ansari met his end on February 19 in Anand Vihar under Khelgaon thana limits, shot dead while visiting his lover. The killers then disfigured his body with rocks to hinder identification. According to Sadar DSP Sanjeev Besra, the affair had been ongoing for 15 years, with the couple exploiting Johnson’s absences for their rendezvous.
Johnson, seething with anger over Asif’s refusal to back off, roped in Deepak Agarwal, distributing the bounty: 4 lakh to Deepak, 2.4 lakh to Prem Lakda, and 1.6 lakh to Prince Kumar. Authorities seized the murder weapons—a desi katta—and the vehicles used, closing in on the conspiracy’s threads.
This incident underscores the perils of unchecked emotions escalating to violence. With all perpetrators in custody, the community awaits the courts to deliver verdict on this web of deceit and death.
