Patna’s night of celebration ended in tragedy as gunfire erupted at a wedding reception, claiming the lives of two real brothers in a ruthless double murder. The attack in Gopalpur police station limits, specifically Shahpur village, has left residents reeling from the violence that shattered the festive atmosphere.
Manish Kumar and Manjeet Kumar were exiting the venue after enjoying the meal when assailants ambushed them with relentless firing—around 20 shots in total. The brothers, property dealers by profession, were the sons of Raj Kishore Rai. Manish breathed his last at the scene, and Manjeet followed soon after in medical care despite desperate efforts to save him.
Prelude to the killing reportedly involved a confrontation at the party hosted for Daulat Ram’s son Vicky. What started as a verbal spat escalated into a premeditated execution. As the duo stepped out, bullets rained down, sparking panic among wedding guests who fled in horror.
At the heart of this brutality lies a decades-old property wrangle. The family had endured a 40-year tussle over six acres of land with patidar kin. A court verdict five months back favoring the victims’ side is believed to have provoked the accused—named as Krishna, Prem, and associates—to strike back with lethal force.
Authorities acted decisively amid the uproar. Senior officers including C SP East Parichay Kumar and Sadar ASP Abhinav conducted on-site assessments under cover of darkness. FSL experts gathered crucial evidence, and extra policing was ramped up to maintain order in the tense locality. The probe continues, with police vowing to unravel the full conspiracy and bring the perpetrators to book, restoring some semblance of security to a shaken community.
