The Indian government’s push for pensioner-friendly reforms takes center stage in Guwahati. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, will kick off the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop on February 23 at the Administrative Staff College. This event, backed by multiple ministries under the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, aligns perfectly with PM Modi’s ‘Ease of Living’ agenda through digitized pension services.
Designed exclusively for retiring central government staff, the workshop covers critical topics: from claiming retirement benefits and CGHS healthcare to safeguarding against cyber threats, prudent investing, and mastering portals like Bhavishya and Unified Pensioners’ Portal. Sessions on family pensions, CPENGRAMS grievance redressal, Anubhav sharing, and e-life certificates will equip participants for a seamless shift.
Approximately 350 Assam-based employees retiring soon stand to gain the most. Beyond counselling, a collaborative Bankers’ Awareness Programme with SBI aims to familiarize bankers with pension protocols.
Adding flair, an on-site exhibition by leading banks will highlight pension-specific banking solutions. Retirees can explore account openings, investment schemes, and personalized advice right there. This holistic approach not only informs but also connects pensioners directly with service providers, fostering transparency and efficiency.
As India modernizes its pension ecosystem, events like this 58th PRC exemplify proactive governance, ensuring no retiree is left navigating the system alone.
