In a landmark moment for religious tech integration, Bhakti Charan Das, a prominent figure in spiritual circles, has welcomed the ‘KumbhDoot’ AI project set to debut at the 2027 Nashik Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Announced during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, this initiative will deliver live digital assistance to pilgrims, marking a new era for one of Hinduism’s grandest festivals.
During an interview on Sunday, Das described the development as unprecedented. ‘Nashik’s 2027 Kumbh will be the first AI-powered edition, christened KumbhDoot,’ he shared. Pilgrims will access real-time updates on tent locations, security measures, and amenities through their smartphones, easing navigation in the sea of millions.
The saint lauded its value for the sadhu and sant communities. ‘Technology like this boosts facilities and safety, allowing easy connectivity anywhere in the Kumbh precincts,’ Das said. He envisioned it preventing mishaps and streamlining services, from sanitation to emergency responses.
Balancing enthusiasm with tradition, Das stressed limitations. ‘AI must aid the Kumbh without disrupting our rishi-muni legacy or guru-disciple bonds,’ he warned. Religious customs, he added, demand utmost respect, positioning tech as a servant to spirituality, not a replacement.
Das profusely thanked the summit organizers at Bharat Mandapam, CM Devendra Fadnavis, and local officials for their involvement. ‘Their presence underscores commitment,’ he remarked. With meticulous planning underway, the 2027 event promises unprecedented benefits, inviting universal participation in this tech-spiritual synergy.
