The ICC has spotlighted three exceptional performers from the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Qualifier as nominees for January’s Player of the Month. Gaby Lewis of Ireland, Sobhana Mostri from Bangladesh, and Tara Norris of USA each left an indelible mark on the tournament.
Ireland skipper Gaby Lewis was a run-machine, piling up 251 runs across six T20Is at a strike rate exceeding 124. Her gritty 73 against Bangladesh stood out, even in defeat. Lewis’s tournament tally of 276 runs for Ireland was unmatched, her aggressive batting and captaincy steering the team closer to World Cup glory.
Sobhana Mostri of Bangladesh combined flair and substance, blasting 229 runs with an average of 45.80 and strike rate of 145.85. Key knocks included 59 versus Thailand and 47 against Scotland. Not just a batter, the young off-spinner’s vital wicket against PNG added to her growing reputation as a versatile talent.
Tara Norris emerged as the USA’s bowling spearhead, topping the qualifiers with 15 wickets. Her January haul of 11 wickets featured devastating three-fors against Namibia, Ireland, and Thailand. The left-arm pacer’s 3/10 against Ireland was a masterclass, wrecking the batting lineup, complemented by a handy 39 runs with the bat.
This trio’s contributions highlight the intensifying global competition in women’s T20 cricket. Public voting is now open, promising to crown one of these stars as the month’s best.
